External view of the new main booking office, entrance to the passenger subway and stairway to the down platform circa 1938. The rebuilding was phased so that most of the new main station facilities were built prior to the demolition of most of the original facilities. In this view the new facilities were sited on the ground floor of the three storey building. The original building which was located to the right has now been demolished.
