GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Leamington Shed: gwrls3832

Ex-LMS 2-6-4T No 42566, is standing in front of Leamington shed's coaling stage in March 1962. A member of the Stanier's 4MT class, No 42566 was built by the North British Locomotive Company of Glasgow, and was in service from August 1936 to May 1965 when it was withdrawn from 6C Mollington Street shed in Birkenhead. No 42566 had been a Crewe North locomotive before being transferred to the Western Region in late 1957. At the time of this photograph, No 42566 was allocated to Leamington (84D). This ex LMS loco is in an unloved condition, unlike the ex-GWR locos at Leamington at this time.
