GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Ex-LMS 2-8-0 'Stanier' 8F No 48751 is seen standing in front of Leamington Shed in March 1962. Built as LNER No 3146 by Darlington works in September 1946, No 48751 was renumbered by the LNER as No 3546 in March 1947 before being transferred to to the LMS and renumbered as No 8751 in November 1947. Renumbered again by by British Railways in May 1948, No 48751 was to remain in service until February 1967 when it was withdrawn from 9B Stockport Edgeley shed to be scrapped. At the time of this photograph, the locomotive was allocated to 2B Nuneaton shed.
