GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Leamington Carriage Sidings: lnwrrm3965

Two GWR internal letters sent in October 1909 from Mr Lionel R Wood based at Stafford Road, to Mr SF Johnson at Snow Hill Station

Two Great Western Railway internal letters sent in October 1909 from Mr Lionel R Wood (from the Divisional (Civil) Engingeer's Office based at Stafford Road, Wolverhampton) to Mr SF Johnson (Birmingham Divisional Superintendent based at Snow Hill Station).

The first letter dated 16th October, confirms that the Divisional Engineering Department had recently started work on the new carriage sidings at Leamington. An existing pair of points that could be used to provide a temporary siding to facilitate the working of ballast trains had been identified.

The second letter dated 22nd October, confirms that the temporary siding referred to in the previous letter had been brought into use by the fixing of a hand lever to operate the points. For protection a swing block had been positioned over the siding and this was locked with the key kept in the South Junction Signal Box.
