GWR Route: Moreton-in-Marsh to Shipston-on-Stour

A gang of men from the Great Western Railway's Civil Engineering Department are working on both the platform and track bed. The track sleepers are covered in ash ballast, a practice common to most railways in the 19th century. Today this practice would be frowned upon because the ash covered the bolts holding the chairs to the sleepers and could not therefore be easily inspected.
