GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

A 1950s view of the exterior view of Olton's 1930s rebuilt station showing the booking office and the new approach 'Station Drive'. The rebuilding undertaken by the GWR along the route into Birmingham reflected the increase in the numbers of passengers commuting. As with many of the stations rebuilt in the pre-war period, the GWR recognised the impact of road transport and thereby provided generous driveways to the front of their stations.
