GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Olton Station: gwro3985

Plan of the GWR Pavilion was drawn by Mr AT Daniels, a local builder, and submitted to Solihull Council in 1926

This plan of the GWR Pavilion was drawn by a local builder (Mr AT Daniels) and submitted to Solihull Council in 1926. This showed that it consisted of a large single storey wooden building. It had a gable roof (with a 30 degree pitch), constructed with timber trussed purlins at two foot centres with a collar tie beam (typically these spaced at six foot intervals). The central room (labelled Canteen on the plan) had skylights and gave access to a wide veranda on the south west side of the building. A pair of Dressing rooms were provided on either side of the central room. Each pair of Dressing rooms had access to separate washing areas, each with two toilets. This required external foul water drainage to be provided with a new connection made to an existing sewer that crossed the sports ground.
