GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Leamington Spa Station: gwrpublicity3879
An extract from the Great Western Railway Timetable for
summer 1913. This was a period when full details of the various road motor car
and omnibus services that they operated, were included in their passenger
timetable. This extract indicates the route (with times) of the daily motor bus
tour of Shakespeare's Country. It appears that in Warwick passengers could
re-board the motor bus either at; Warwick Castle gates or at the Warwick Arms
Hotel (where they had been dropped off). The tours ran every weekday from
Saturday 10th May. London passengers could arrive by 10:50am by catching the
9:10am Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Chester and Birkenhead express from Paddington
as this train slipped a coach at Leamington at 10:44am. At this time a Dennis
20hp bus, seating 14 passengers was used for the tour. (See 'gwrpublicity3873').
