GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Rowington Junction & Troughs: gwrrj1936
A posed photograph of the workmen who worked maintaining the
lines around Rowington Junction Signal Box. The seniority of the people in the
photograph can be easily determined by their respective head wear. The trilby
is being worn by manager, whilst the bowler is being worn by the ganger with
the flat caps being worn by the other workmen. There is the possibility that
some of the men are signalmen as twelve P & W men does seem a little too
excessive. The track seen curving to the left is the branch line just before it
meets the main Birmingham to Leamington line (see image 'gwrrj264a'. The date of the photograph is unknown but
is probably circa 1910.
