GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Rowington Junction & Troughs: gwrrj2780
A gang of platelayers are seen at work on the main line near
to Rowington Junction Signal Box in 1950. It would appear that the ballast has
been dug out and left to one side of the track, beneath the old railway
sleepers. The posture of the men would indicate that the gang has just lifted a
60 foot rail on to the chairs and are now aligning the rail. There is no rail
to the left of this rail so it would appear that the work is significant and is
probably being undertaken on a Sunday.
