GWR 4-6-0 No 6028 'King George VI' is seen at the head of an up express service entering Solihull station's on the Up Main line. Originally built at Swindon as No 6028 'King Henry II' in July 1930 it was renamed in January 1937 and remained in service until it was withdrawn in November 1962 from Cardiff Canton to be scrapped in August 1964 by Birds of Risca. It was first allocated to Old Oak Common shed where it was still recorded as being allocated in August 1950 and March 1959. In January 1957 No 6028 was fitted with a double chimney and when withdrawn it had recorded 1,663,271 miles in service. 5th March 1960
