GWR 4-6-0 No 6022 'King Edward III' is seen at the head of an up express service as it restarts from a signal check north of Solihull station on 25th October 1959. Engineering works required the 8.05 a.m. Birkenhead to Paddington service to proceed under direction of hand signalling and is travelling on the up fast line. The Stafford Road engine had taken over the train at Wolverhampton Low Level departing at 11.15 a.m. Built at Swindon to Lot 267 in June 1930 it remained in service until September 1962 when it was withdrawn from Stafford shed, Wolverhampton Stafford Road to be scrapped in June 1963 by Cox & Danks of Langley Green, Oldbury. John Greenway writes, 'If my memory is correct, the picture will have been taken from Streetsbrook Road bridge, looking towards Leamington. The fast lines are on the left and the slow on the right'.
