GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Solihull Station: gwrs267
View of the inside of Solihull station's new signal box
showing the multitude of levers operated by George Horsley circa 1930s. The
levers operated both signals and points and were interlocked to prevent
accidental operation of the signals or crossings which conflicted with each
other. This meant that when signals were pulled in the 'off' position the
related points had to be set correctly with the path selected by the signalman.
On the left the small table is where the signalman would book the timings of
his acceptance of traffic from the next signal box on either side of Solihull
or other incidents.
