GWR Route: Stratford on Avon to Hatton

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Castle class No 5070 'Sir Daniel Gooch' is standing at the up main platform on the 11:15am Newquay to Wolverhampton service. Being a Stafford based locomotive No 5070 would have taken a southbound service to Bristol where it would have come off, turned and then serviced ready to return on this service. A member of the 4073 class, No 5070 was built at Swindon works to Lot 310 in June 1938 and remained in service until March 1964 when it was withdrawn from 81A Old Oak Common shed to be scrapped during August 1964 by Birds of Risca.
