The buffer stop at the end is deliberately positioned to clear the ramp that would be used to allow vehicles to access the end of the rail vehicle. When first built, this facility would have been designed more for horse drawn transport than for mechanised vehicles. Depending on the load, the platform to the left could also be used to load or unload goods into vans.
