GWR 4-4-0 Bulldog class No 3453 'Dominion of Canada' is seen passing Shirley goods shed and yard on a West of England express service in 1909. Built with a half-cone boiler at Swindon works in January 1904 No 3453 was fitted wit a fill cone boiler in July 1908 but reverted back to a half cone boiler in December 1913. Following the GWR's renumbering of its locomotive fleet in 1912 'Dominion of Canada' was re-numbered as No 3391 and in this guise it was equipped with a Standard No 3 boiler in March 1944 which it retained up to its withdrawal from Laira shed in Plymouth in May 1948 to be scrapped at Swindon works soon after.
