View from the Birmingham end of Shirley signal box looking over the buffer stops towards the landing and cattle pens and goods shed in April 1963. To the right of the timber fencing were two sidings used by local merchants, in particular for coal, as well as other items that did not need to be handled inside the sheltered and secure goods shed. The retaining wall to the siding to the landing dock has been rebated to allow steps to be provided from track to platform level.
