Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Manor class No 7808 'Cookham Manor' passes through Shirley at the head of a 'SLS Special' on 10th September 1961. The SLS special was bound for Swindon and then on to the MSWJ for Andover Junction. Built at Swindon in March 1938 as the ninth member of the class No 7808 remained in service until December 1965 when it was withdrawn from Horton Road shed in Gloucester to be preserved.
