GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
GWR Official Publications: gwrsh67
Three pages from a Great Western Railway leaflet dated
January 1937. Competition from coaches meant that cheap travel rates were no
longer limited to half day, single day or weekend excursions, but were
available for longer periods. A first class monthly return ticket was also
available at 50% more than the third class fare and destinations on other
railway company networks included. Holiday tickets for the Channel Islands and
Ireland were valid for a fortnight, while Holiday Season Tickets giving a
week's unlimited travel in a specific holiday area were also available.
