GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Looking north towards Leamington Spa and Birmingham with the goods yard on the left. The rural nature of the surrounding area is confirmed in this photograph with nothing but gently rolling fields and woodland in sight. The station's nearest residential areas were principally the villages of Harbury and the slightly more distant Southam. The opening of the LNWR Leamington to Weedon branch always meant that the GWR station would never have the volume of cement traffic although it was always a more direct route for passengers wishing to travel to London or Birmingham.
