GWR 4-6-0 No 6007 King William III is seen entering the station on an up express to Paddington in 1947. The King William III seen in this photograph was the second locomotive to bear the name and number as the original King built in March 1928 was condemned after a collision at Shrivenham in January 1936.

The second King was built just two months later the authorities being able to take advantage of the fact that the Kings were still in the production. Built by Swindon to Lot 309 in March 1936 No 6007 ran in service until withdrawn from Stafford Road shed, Wolverhampton in September 1962 to be scrapped by Cox & Danks, Langley Green of Oldbury in February 1963.
