GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Southam Road and Harbury: Photo gwrsrh290
Looking towards Fenny Compton this view of the Southam and
Harbury station shows the sweeping curve located just to the south. The
passenger footbridge built in between the World Wars was constructed of steel
framing with riveted steel panels. The station sign can just be seen in the
long grass beyond the footbridge showing the degree of neglect since the
photograph seen in image 'gwrsh280'.
Rod Liddiard writes "Shame to see it like this though it always
was when I worked through.(Though mostly at night). I read once that the
station was a regular winner of best kept station in the division. as in the
Edwardian photo 'gwrsrh280a'".
