GWR Route: Moreton-in-Marsh to Shipston-on-Stour
Shipston-on-Stour Station: gwrss543
View of the GWR weigh house looking from the road with the
goods shed in the distance and the locomotive shed further behind. Immediately
adjacent to the weigh house is Messrs. Hutchings coal office which had its coal
staithes to the left out of sight of this photograph. The location of the
single siding used by Messrs. Hutchings is identified by the presence of the
Van. The GWR weigh bridge was available to the non-railway public but at
slightly higher premium. The weigh bridge office was where the 'checker' was
based and it was his responsibility to also keep the wagon books.
