Looking towards Tyseley station as workmen are seen working on building Stockfield Road bridge's new abutment adjacent to the up main line. The nearness of the abutment wall would have meant that the up main line would have operated under a speed restriction, particularly during the construction of the foundations. The line has been protected by the use of in-filling the 'four foot' (the gap between the two rails) with hard-core and, outside the two rails, with two sections of rail joined together.
