An aerial view of Tyseley taken in 1939 shows the Great Western Railway main line running from bottom right to top left. The North Warwickshire Line curves off to the top left which is near the location of Spring Road Platform (A). The two island platforms of Tyseley Junction Station are below the road bridge near the centre (B). Directly below this is the Goods Yard (C), while on the other side of the main lines are the Carriage Sidings and Carriage Shed (D). On the far right is the Locomotive Roundhouses (E) with Coaling stage and water tank in front (F).

Close to Tyseley Station were the motorcycle manufacturers; Abingdon (later AKD) (a) and Excelsior Motor Company (b), and the motorcar manufacturer Rover (c). The medieval Hay Hall was the Headquarters of the Reynolds Tube Co (d) and this was surrounded by their works (e). Another motorcar manufacturer had resided at works adjacent to Kings Road (f), but this and the buildings behind (g) were all part of the extensive Bakelite Factory. May and Padmore specialised in hot brass pressings at the their works in Wharfdale Road (h). Other vehicle manufactures in the area were; the Perry Motor Company (i) and the Mead and Deakin's Works, who made motorcycle components and Rhode motorcars (j).
