An Edwardian view of Tyseley Junction with a local passenger service from Leamington to Snow Hill passing Tyseley South signal box

An Edwardian view of Tyseley Junction with a local passenger service from Leamington to Snow Hill passing Tyseley South Signal Box on the down main line and a line of four-wheel carriages standing in sidings on the right. Tyseley South Signal Box was opened on 13th November 1907 in conjunction with the North Warwickshire Line, which branches off to the right at this point. The Birmingham and Oxford Junction Railway had been quadrupled between here and Olton during the previous year and the Signal Box was built between the two down lines. After June 1913 the tracks were re-ordered to a ‘paired by use’ arrangement and the down main line became the up relief, while the two up lines on the left became the up and down main lines. The track configuration at the junction was to remain until 1969 when it was simplified reflecting the drop in traffic and rationalisation of services.
