View of one of the roundhouses at Tyseley shed with ex-GWR 2-6-2T No 4155, ex-ROD 2-8-0 No 3012 and ex-GWR 2-8-0 No 2856 in view. The workman is operating the mechanical turntable and aligning the rails of the turntable with one of the storage roads. Turntables inside sheds were fully enclosed for safety reasons unlike turntables sited outside sheds where the pit was open. Locomotive No 4155 was a member of the 51xx class and built at Swindon works to Lot 361 in August 1947 and remained in service until September 1965 when it was withdrawn from Tyseley shed to be scrapped during February 1966 by Birds of Long Marston near Stratford upon Avon. Built as ROD No 2024 was built for the Railway Operating Department by the North British Locomotive Company in June 1919 and after being purchased by the GWR and numbered No 3012 remained in service until April 1956 when it was also withdrawn from Tyseley to be scrapped circa 1956 at Swindon works. Finally, No 2856 was built at Swindon works in April 1918 and remained in service until April 1964 when it was withdrawn from Southall shed to be scrapped in December 1964 by Birds of Risca.
