GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Warwick Station: gwrw2167a
Close up of image 'gwrw2167' showing the siding where coal
was transferred from standard to narrow gauge wagons for the local gas works.
The standard gauge wagons were shunted into the siding by the Warwick goods
pilot where each narrow gauge wagon would be loaded with about two tons of coal
before being released to free wheel down to the works, with a gas board man
riding on the back to operate the brake. After the wagon was unloaded it was
pushed back to the siding for another load.
