A view from the south end of Warwick's down platform looking towards Leamington Spa on Monday 20th August 1956. The glazed screens provided some protection for the passengers from the wind in this exposed location. The platforms at Warwick were staggered and the original platform level was slightly lower.

The connection to the former horse dock sidings, which were on the right under the loading gauge, had been removed five months earlier. These sidings were located on the site of the station's first goods facilities, which prior to July 1895 included a wagon turntable. According to the 1921 and 1929 Service Time Tables there were weight restrictions in place for the horse dock sidings with the following locomotive types prohibited from working over them; 4-4-0 ‘County’ type, 4-4-2T, 2-6-2T, 4-6-0, 2-8-0 and 2-6-2T (31xx). Restricted by the Coventry Road and other development, there was limited room for expansion at this location and Warwick's main goods yard with its large goods shed was therefore constructed on the other side of the running lines and the Coventry Road. The goods shed can be seen in the distance beyond the bridge girders. By 1955, even the sidings in the Main Goods yard had been rationalised and they would be entirely taken out of use in April 1961, with the rails removed in the following July.
