GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Warwick Station: gwrw2646
Fordson tractor No 1194 towing large agricultural machinery
to the Warwick Royal Show on 4th July 1931. This tractor is one of at least two
which were fitted with sprung rear wheels and double width driving wheels by
Muir Hill Equipment Ltd of Old Trafford, Manchester. The prefix letters of the
tractor's registration number plate (YU5265) indicates a London allocation
between September 1927 and January 1928. For more details of other Fordson
tractors see 'gwrqhy2642a'. The agricultural
machinery being towed is a combined harvester and threshing machine
manufactured by Clayton & Shuttleworth Co Ltd of Lincoln. In the background
is the Cape Goods Yard, where additional sidings and platforms were constructed
specifically for the Royal Show and more tractors and wagons can be seen.
