GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Warwick Station: gwrw384a
Close up of image 'gwrw384' showing Cape Yard sidings which
has several coal stacks in view adjacent to the yard's advertising hoarding
circa 1947. The crane was fixed in position and was used for off-loading
palleted items, container vans, timber etc. The 1925
map shows five sidings in use whereas this photograph indicates that by
1947 a sixth siding was laid at the very far end and running the other side of
the raised platform. Access from the mainline was via the loop line to the left
of the coal staithes. This loop line was in effect an extension of the track
which ran from the down platform bay used to stable the Hatton Banker as seen
in images 'gwrw376' and 'gwrw938'.
