Whitlocks End Halt: gwrwe1119

View of the down platform's timber framed and clad passenger shelter and the pathways leading down to the Whitlock End platform. The GWR had provided the minimum passenger facilities with the platform surface being primarily compacted gravel except for the area immediately in front of the shelter which had been paved. The timber structure had been designed to slope from front to back with a slight over hang at the rear to throw rain water clear in lieu of guttering and with the roof extended at the front to provide a small canopy. The GWR had 'finished off' the canopy by using its standard ornate fascia boards. The only visual evidence of British Railway's ownership is the standard corporate British Railway Totem containing the name of the halt fixed to the front of the shelter.
