Looking towards Stratford upon Avon showing the mouth of the 175 yards long tunnel and Broad Lane perimeter wall passing over the top. The cutting seen above involved some 214,000 cubic yards of excavation both for the approach to the tunnel and to accommodate the station. The original oil lampposts have been removed and replaced by tall paraffin vapour lighting suspended from the tall posts the same type seen in image 'gwrgh88' at Grimes Hill & Wythall Halt.
