GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Widney Manor Station: gwrwm1898
GWR 4-2-2 Achilles Class No 3050 'Royal Sovereign' on 3:28pm
down local service to Snow Hill on 1st April 1913. The vacuum reservoir (the
long tube) seen on the top of the clerestory coach almost certainly implies
that its a slip vehicle, either empty stock or picked up at Leamington Spa. The
locomotive was built at Swindon works in February 1895 and only remained in
service a short time being withdrawn in December 1915.
