GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Looking towards Birmingham a view of the construction of the bridge over Widney Lane and work associated with the quadrupling of the line. The new bridge was sited at the end of No 3 and No 4 platforms. The additional platforms were built from timber and in the case of the new Platform No 3 it was aligned with the existing platform No 2 to create an island configuration. This was achieved by building the new timber platform into the earth that formed the base of the existing platform. The completed platforms No 3 and No 2 are seen in images 'gwrwm420b' and 'gwrwm428' respectively.
