Side view of Yardley Wood Platform's Booking Office which was located adjacent to the bridge at road level. This photograph was taken in the late 20th century and is well outside of our 1970s cut off date. However in the absence of any other image we have included it because it shows many of the original architectural features. The Booking Hall, accessed by the door on the right, is also a general waiting room. The door to the Booking Office is on the left and has an unusual but unknown feature of a two sided bay window in the gable wall. This type of feature was employed to allow staff greater visibility of the station without having to leave their office. The pathway sloping down to the up platform can be seen in front of the doors whilst Highfield Road is to the right of the photograph with the bridge just out of sight.
