Yardley Wood Platform: gwryw530a

Close up of image 'gwryw530' showing the down platform waiting room which accommodated only a general waiting room and toilets, the Gentlemen's being via side entrance. The canopy to the structure is the conventional cantilevered type seen on most secondary structures on the line. The lack of furniture and posters indicates that the line was probably not fully open when this view was taken. The platform's hardstanding was to the standard GWR specification, paved at the platform edge and full width in front of the buildings with compacted gravel used every where else. The frequency of lampposts was a little unusual indicating that the GWR were concerned to ensure that passengers felt safe at the station
