The canopy of the waiting is formed by being a continuation of the main roof which is why it does not have the same reach towards the platform edge as the waiting room on the down line. The two chimneys are evidence that that there are two waiting rooms, a general waiting room and a ladies, with the ladies toilet being accessed from inside whilst gentlemen accessed their toilet via a separate door set in the gable wall on the far side. The raised roof section to the left of the far chimney provides ventilation to the gentlemen's toilets.
