Building the last Main Line Railway

View of the brick built five arch bridge carrying Newton
Lane over the Great Central's London Extension. The road entered Newton village
which was just a short distance to the south of Bridge 439. Sitting on the line
of undulating contractor's railway are a line of wagons bearing the name
Topham, Jones & Railton: this was the firm responsible for building this
section of the Last Main Line (Contract No 3, Aylestone to Rugby).
