Building the last Main Line Railway
Newton to the Oxford Canal: gcrcs2
The first temporary timber supports are erected during the
construction of the Great Central bridge over the Oxford Canal circa 1896. The
Great Central was required to maintain water borne traffic during the building
of the line, in this instance where the railway passes between Clifton on
Dunsmore and Brownsover.
