LNER Route: Leicester to Marylebone
Rugby Central Station: gcrcs205
Ex-GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 No 6929 'Whorlton Hall' is seen on a
Bournemouth to Newcastle relief express service. The locomotive is most likely
to come off the train at Leicester as most GWR locomotives rarely travelled
further north. The leading carriage is a former LNER 3rd Class Brake van
designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. Built by Swindon works to Lot 340 in November
1941, No 6929 remained in service until October 1963 when it was withdrawn from
2D Banbury shed.
