Ground signals are evident (the circular discs with a white or dark horizontal strip) controlled both traffic starting away from the station or refuge siding. Passengers would enter the booking hall situated above the down line from the road and access the platform via the covered walkway and steps on the right. The structure partly visible in silhouette at the far end of the down platform is a 'parachute' water column. Looking carefully it is just possible see the outline of the bottom of the tank, the 'bag' (rubberised hose) for putting into the tender and a ladder leading to the top of the tank.
