British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No 92094 is departing Rugby Central on a Class E express freight service. British Railways categorised a Class E service in 1958 as an 'Express freight, livestock, perishable or ballast train partly fitted, with not less than four braked vehicles next to the engine and connected by the automatic brake pipe. Express freight, livestock, perishable or ballast train with a limited load of vehicles, NOT fitted with the automatic brake.' Built by Swindon works in February 1957, No 92094 was, as were all British Railways built locomotives, to have a short working life being withdrawn in May 1968 from 8C Speke Junction shed to be scrapped by Arnott Young of Parkgate.
