Close up of image 'gcrcs65' showing the glazed covered walkway providing access from the booking hall down to the platform. The design was unusual insofar that when other railways built a station on a bridge above an island platform the building was usually square and symmetrical to the platform below. Rugby station's building was offset with most of the building being sited above the down line and the covered walkway being to one side. The brick built single storey section appears from the station plans to have housed parcels and other offices. The building accommodated waiting rooms and refreshment rooms, the former including a separate ladies waiting room which had toilet facilities accessed from within the room. On the platform is bench seating which employs cast iron integral arms and legs and which also incorporates the station name in the top slat.
