View of Catesby tunnel's northern portal which also needed to be added after the tunnel lining was complete. The contractor's temporary way can be clearly seen its form characterised by the wide spacing between the sleepers which were made from rough timber. The cutting has been dressed on the side nearest the camera whereas the far side still needs to be excavated and dressed.
