This Great Western Railway Land Survey Plan dated 1878, shows the original Kingswood Station

This Great Western Railway Land Survey Plan dated 1878, shows the original Kingswood Station (name changed to Lapworth Station on 1st May 1902). The plan shows the land purchased by the Birmingham & Oxford Junction Railway to construct the railway with the original main lines shown in blue. Early land disposals (dated 1872) are marked in hatched blue. Land purchases, alterations and track changes that occurred after 1878 are marked in red. These indicate that both the station platforms were lengthened to create bay platforms at either end of the station. The station buildings were enlarged and a footbridge was provided. A Station Masters house is also a new addition, as is the Goods Yard on the up side with direct road access. The Goods Yard contained two loops and a short mileage siding. Rail access was gained by trailing connections to both running lines, while a new Up Refuge Siding was reached from the loop nears the main lines. Opposite the Goods Yard was a new Signal Box. This work was largely completed to coincide with the opening of the branch line to Henley-in-Arden in 1894 (see gwrha2786).
