GWR Route: Stratford on Avon to Honeybourne
Long Marston Station: gwrlm481b
Close up of image 'gwrlm481' shows the signal box which
abutted the station building, the latter having a different frontage to that
seen in later years. The station building is fairly devoid of normal railway
paraphernalia - notice boards and posters - with the exception of the 'Pears'
poster, a once well known soap brand, on the gable wall. Items of interest
include the milk churns waiting to be collected and the metal railings which
replaced timber 'picket' fencing seen in early photographs (see image 'gwrlm597'). When the timber fencing was replaced the
station sign was raised approximately 2' higher than seen above.
