GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Leamington Spa Station: gwrls2136
View showing the junction of the goods loop line with the main
line adjacent to Leamington South Signal Box. The two sets of tracks passing
behind the signal box (on the right) are the former LNWR's lines between
Leamington and Rugby. The building seen to the left of the signal box is that
seen in image 'gwrls824' being used by the Permanent
Way gang. The signal has been set to allow GWR 4-6-0 King Class No 6003 'King
George IV' to pass through Leamington station on the down through line on 23rd
April 1960. Built at Swindon works to Lot 243 in July 1927, No 6003 remained in
service until June 1962 when it was withdrawn from 88A Canton shed in
Cardiff.
