Close up of image 'gwrwc3910' showing the GWR 2-6-0 Aberdare locomotive heading south with a train comprising a large number of Greaves Cement Vans. The large number of Greaves Cement Vans in the train are almost certainly destined for the Harbury Cement Works (see 'Greaves Sidings'). The Cement Van livery of Lead Grey with White Lettering carried here was used at least until the Harbury Cement works were purchased by Allied Cement Manufacturers in 1927. This company was also known as the Red Triangle Group and after their takeover the outline of a large red triangle was painted in Venetian Red on the doors of at least one of these Cement Vans (No 235). After 1931, Harbury Cement Works was acquired by Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers (APCM) known for their Blue Circle branding and a totally different livery was adopted. More details of the Greaves Cement Vans can be found at 'lnwrlave4062b'.
