In the background can be seen the original power station arrangement and the first coal hoist. Locomotive No 1 was a standard gauge Overhead Wire electric powered 0-2-2-0 locomotive (works serial no 513) manufactured in 1921 by the British Thomson Houston Co Ltd at their Glebe Farm Works in Rugby. The overhead wire equipment was supplied by the electrical contractors; Brecknell, Munro and Rogers of Bristol and this photograph was taken from one of their advertisements.
